When to Use

• When possible, well-nourished (pre-surgical weight loss <10%) and malnourished (pre-surgical weight loss ≥10%) patients should take 3 servings of IMPACT® Advanced RecoveryT per day for 5-7 days prior to hospitalization.
• If the patient is well-nourished and has consumed the recommended amount of IMPACT® Advanced RecoveryT prior to surgery, additional nutritional support with IMPACT® is needed only at the discretion of the healthcare provider. Well-nourished patients who have not consumed IMPACT® Advanced RecoveryT prior to hospitalization may benefit from enteral administration of IMPACT® after hospitalization.
• If the patient is malnourished, IMPACT® should be given enterally after hospitalization.
• To help obtain maximum benefit, it is important to initiate IMPACT® early in the course of hospitalization. Feedings should begin as soon as it is clinically safe to deliver enteral feeding, as determined by the physician.
